My sister was recently diagnosed with a tumor in the bile duct. A stent was inserted so that the bile could flow. Although she has been told that the doctors are 90% sure the tumor is malignant, they have not been able to get a biopsy to confirm their suspicion. We have been told that we can't bring her to M.D. Anderson without a confirmed diagnosis. Is that true? The soonest that an endoscopic ultrasound can be performed is the middle of December. We are concerned that the cancer cells will spread before we can get the biopsy since it will be two months between finding the tumor and the biopsy. Should we try to find another facility for testing? If the tumor is not malignant and it has to come out, can that be done by M.D. Anderson?
