Treatment for kidney cancer metastatic to bone is challenging. It sounds as though your doctors are making sure that the areas that caused the most trouble are being treated aggressively, which is good.
The best treatment for bone metastases is not known. The combination of Zometa and thalidomide is quite reasonable, and has certainly helped people in your situation. You will need to continue on this treatment to continue to enjoy its benefit. I would not advise stopping it if it appears to be working.
