| Subject: | Night Time Incontinence |
Nocturnal incontinence is a common complaint for individuals who have a neobladder. It occurs because there is no neurological connection between the neobladder and the urethral sphincter so as the pouch fills as you sleep, the sphincter does not reflexly contract and keep you dry. You should ensure that you completely empty your pouch before retiring for the evening and that sometimes requires you to catheterize yourself. You should try setting your alarm clock to wake yourself during the night so that you can empty your pouch before you leak Once you get into this habit you might awaken on your own before leaking.
