Subject:Skin Cancer

I have mucosal melanoma (nasal) not melanoma of the skin. What does M.D. Anderson suggest as follow-up treatment? I do not want to do Interferon. I was diagnosed in July 2004, have had 3 surgeries, a course of radiation after my 2nd surgery, and have had no recurrences since that time. Since mucosal melanoma is more rare I have not seen much as to suggested treatment protocols. Thanks so much for answering my question.

If your last surgery was less than 6 month ago, then you may try for a clinical vaccine trial. However, the only standard adjuvant (follow-up) treatment for nasal melanoma is Interferon. If you are interested, please contact the Melanoma Business Center at 713-563-9716.
