Subject:How Long Does Chemo Brain Last?

Hi,

First, thank you for providing this service. Next, I'd like to know how long in general one can expect "Chemo Brain" to last? Mine mostly is a short term memory loss problem. A time problem (difficulty in guessing time of events and order of events - new events since treatment... not older things that happened in my life)

Is it possible that the short term memory loss is more likely caused by something else? I just assume it was the chemo since I don't really have a "something else" to attribute it to... and, that's when it started (toward the end of treatment a year ago until now) It is getting somewhat better but not fast enough ~smile~

Thank you,
~denise

We don't know how long chemobrain lasts, but in one of our studies, only about 1/2 of patients who declined on chemotherapy were back to baseline in one year. Given the time of onset and trajectory, it is likely to be treatment related and not something else.
