I had chronic depression before my diagnosis for carcinoid tumor of the small bowel. I read a study that warns against using most SSRIs if you have carcinoid. So I switched from Zoloft to Wellbutrin, which makes me jittery and unable to sleep without taking ambien. Is there another medicaion suitable for carcinoids who are clinically depressed?

Do you happen to have the study name about not using SSRIs with carcinoid? We have used it successfully in patients with this. Also, you might ask your physician to consider giving you an SNRI such as Effexor or Cymbalta instead of Wellbutrin which is causing side effects that you have to manage with more medications.
