Subject:Keeping the marriage stuff going

I am celebrating 6 years since diagnosis in May.  I am also celebrating the fact that I finished my five years of tamoxifen.  I noticed with taxmoxifen that I had decreased libido.  Now my doctor wants me to start femara.  I really have to weigh this one since my whole outlook has improved dramatically since stopping the tamoxifen.  This goes hand in hand with a more vibrant marriage and sex life.    What would the femara do to increase my odds of survival now?  I was staged 2A.  2 lymph nodes involved.   2 cm tumor.  ER/PR+.  Her2-.  I need help weighing survival vs quality of life.  BTW I am 51 years old and definitely in menopause.

Congratulations on your 6 years of survival!   Thank you for writing and I can appreciate your concerns regarding side effects of tamoxifen and possible of femara. I strongly recommend that you address these concerns about the medical advantages of femara with your oncologist, particularly with the topic of increased survival.  He/she is best qualified to answer this treatment question. I wish you well.
