MD Anderson Employees at both our Science Park - Research Division campus in Smithville and the Keeling Center for Comparative Medicine and Research in Bastrop have been directly impacted by the recent wildfires in Central Texas.

The wildfires prompted the Sept. 5 evacuation of our Smithville campus, which remained closed all week. Employees at the Bastrop campus were on alert in the meantime. Neither facility incurred physical damage, but employees returned to work on Sept. 12 with harrowing stories of survival and escape.
