of Extramural Programs
Faculty interest in Extramural Programs-managed activities with current and potential Sister Institutions ( SIs) remains high and existing collaborations are delivering measurable education, grant, publication, and clinical trial (pdf) outcomes. During the year, the department worked on existing programs and various initiatives including making SI criteria more stringent and strengthening Extramural Programs’ review and oversight management.
In addition, a number of successful individual and group exchanges and symposia were held; new SI relationships and faculty collaborations were established or explored; department strategic plans were revised; international strategies by region were formed; and weaknesses in programs and management were reviewed and plans made to improve.
In the next year, the department’s goals are to continue existing programs and initiatives for improvements in programs and activities. In particular, it will work with the President’s Office and other executives to outline a consensus strategy on the vision, and next steps for M. D. Anderson and its partners to be the global leaders in oncology. Further strengthening the quality of the objectives, goals and outcome expectations for all institutional extramural relationships will also be a high priority for the department.
