Hematology/Oncology Fellowship Program - Testimonials

Testimonials
“The M. D. Anderson fellowship program offered me a great variety of opportunities that other,
smaller programs just don’t have. The size and diversity of the institution, its faculty, and
the depth and breadth of research make it a goldmine, whether the goal is education or research.
I was also impressed by the ability to undertake multiple projects at the same time, with the
assurance that the patient volume of the institution almost guaranteed that if I did my part,
the material for my projects was there. Finally, it was (and is!) the “can do” attitude of our
faculty and our staff that makes this institution unique. There is no idea and no project that
is too hard to undertake, and one can find support and collaborators for just about anything.
And being part of the Texas Medical Center is an added bonus. There are internationally
recognized experts in just about every field of medicine within walking distance, and certainly
at the other end of a local phone call.”

“The medical oncology program at M. D. Anderson supported my education as an epidemiologist
with an interest in health disparities as well as cancer survivorship. Although I have an active
clinical practice, I also volunteer at our oncology clinic at a public hospital and am developing
an active program for breast cancer survivors.”

“The opportunities to excel in clinical care and research at M. D. Anderson are tremendous.
I felt like I was sitting down at a buffet table and there was more than enough for everyone.
You have to decide what to put on your plate.”

“M.D. Anderson is the best place to develop your career. The fellowship protects your time so you can
develop your career as an academic oncologist taking full advantage of the institution’s endless clinical and
laboratory resources. You don’t realize how great M. D. Anderson is until you leave Houston to go to a national
meeting and realize most of the experts, leaders and pioneers in oncology are the guys you talk with in the hall,
and see patients with in the clinic everyday.”
