Providing spiritual care to patients and caregivers in our diverse outpatient clinics is a much needed service. We are looking for persons who are willing to journey with outpatients as they undergo cancer treatment, persons who are sensitive to all faiths and beliefs and who provide a connection to community resources and referrals to the chaplains as needed.

Those interested in this Chaplaincy program should be willing to complete training and to attend continued education and processing meetings to be able to:
- Convey genuine interested in and care for patient and family
Meet individuals at their point of need in the here and now
Make a brief spiritual assessment and referral as necessary
Listen respectfully to the story and the underlying feelings
Extend God's presence and love, either non-verbally through an incarnational presence or if appropriate verbally through explicit reference and use of religious resources
Prerequisites:
Previous spiritual care experience, training through Stephen Ministry or the Community of Hope is helpful, but not required. A prerequisite is to attend the 2.5 hour orientation provided by the volunteer services department which includes the filling out of an application and a criminal background check.
