| Subject: | Lynch Syndrome and Bladder Cancer |
I am a female with diagnosed Lynch Syndrome, the colon cancer gene. In woman, there is a higher incident at an earlier age for endometrial, ovarian, and bladder cancer, as well as a high incidence of multiple cancers simultaneously.
Well, after two brothers with colon cancer, I hit the trifecta: endometrial (Stage IIIC), Ovarian Stage II, and Bladder (Stage II) in July 2005 at age 48.
Today, I am happy and well after a transurethal resection, total hysterectomy, chemo and radiation.
I have had no recurrence of the bladder cancer, and I was very lucky that the location allowed my doctor to cut the cancer out and just laser my ureter back to the bladder.
I have had very few issues with it, but I do, after almost three years from surgery, have urgency issues and need to wake two or three times a night to go. My doctor said the pills might help, but after three years of pills for the other cancers, I really don't want to take anything. Aside from not drinking anything at night, does anyone have any advice?
Sorry this is so long, but I try to educate people about Lynch when I can, and bladder cancer being one of the ones associated with it, people should know.
