I was diagnosed with blader cancer in March, 2007. Since that time I have undergone 4 TUR's. With the last TUR in August 2008, I underwent 6 weeks of BCG. At the 4 week check up after BCG treatment, there was no indication of cancer. However, at the next 3 month check, there were two new tumors. The doctor removed them in the office. The path report came back as high grade, but no muscle invasion. I can't understand why there is nothing out there to stop the growth of the cancer. I have questioned my Urologist, who assures me that this is the normal treatment options. I have not been told that I am not a candidate for addtional BCG treatments. I am concerned that I am not doing enough to stop this cancer. Has anyone else been through this?
There are two really good resources here that might be of some help coping with the often times confusing nature of the disease. The first resources is the Anderson Network. This is a volunteer group comprised of current and former patients and are here at MD Anderson and they are available to answer any questions you might have about their experience here.
The other resource is the Bladder Cancer Support Team. This group is also very helful and are able to provide support for patients specifically dealing with bladder cancer. It might be worth checking out to see if anyone there can provide any help as well.
