Subject:looking for second opinion

Hello Everyone;

My father, age 65, is recently diagnosed with Adenocarcinoma of prostate with a gleason score 6 (3+3). I don't have his SPA number. He recently went through a minimum invasive surgery for prostate because of sudden urine blockage causing severe swelling in prostate. Now, he is fine but the biopsy result shows sections with a tumor involving almost 70% of the tissue. Also, the acini of tumor cells infiltrating the stroma along with perineural invasion while the rest of the prostate shows adenomatus and leiomyomatous hyperplasia. My dad's doctor is suggesting a surgery to removes the tumor that will help in minimizing the damage and minimizing the chances of its reoccurrence (probably again in 6-7 years..just my uneducated guess).

I live in Houston but my father is abroad. I am looking for a urologist to get a second opinion and what options a person have in this case. Comment or suggestions will be appreciated.

Also, I called the MD Anderson international 800 number and left the message but never heared back from them. Anyways, I am making efforst to find an urologist to consult.

Thanks,

Hello devhouston,

Sorry to hear about your father's diagnosis.  He is lucky to have you helping him discern the best treatment options!  If you haven't been in touch with MD Anderson for guidance on his case, you can call 877-MDA-6789 or visit: http://www.mdanderson.org/patient-and-cancer-information/patient-care-essentials/newly-diagnosed/index.html

Best of luck to you and your father and please keep us up to date on his progress!
